The Perth Centre will also be offering the recently launched INSIGHT programme which is a fantastic multi million pound online teaching programme (exclusive to Kip McGrath Centres), incredibly interactive and fun for students, but also reinforces the lessons being taught.  Our students in Falkirk have been using it for the past 6 months and love the rewards and challenges it sets.

How We Teach

What Level is Your Child Working at in School?

Before we tutor any child, we offer a FREE educational assessment to understand what level a child is working at and to identify any gaps in learning or underlying issues that may be holding back a child from reaching their full academic potential.

We have invested in a variety of assessment resources in order to diagnose young people's specific needs which includes Neale Analysis, Kip McGrath assessments and Lucid Cognitive Profiling System which can identify special learning needs such as dyslexia

What Happens Next?

Following the assessment (which can take up to an hour) we will prepare an individual lesson plan for your child which is based on their unique requirements.  Students attend the centre each week for a 90 minute lesson which will include one to one tuition with the tutor and a combination of written and online activities to enhance learning of the subject being taught.

Frequent Questions

Frequently Asked Questions about our Maths and English Tutoring Programme at Kip McGrath Education Centres Perth in Scotland

What subjects do you teach?

We help students between four and eighteen years of age, primarily in the areas of Reading, Writing, Spelling, Comprehension, English and all aspects of Maths.  At appropriate times of the school year, we offer expert courses for Primary 7 students preparing for making the transition to secondary school.  We also employ qualified Secondary Teachers who tutor children in SQA Exam preparation including National 4/5, Higher and Advanced Higher Maths and English.

What ages do you teach?

The majority of students we teach are between 4 and 18 years old. We also cater for adult students who need to "brush up" on their school knowledge, for example, in preparing for a workplace examination or to improve their reading or writing skills.

Do you tutor students for selective school entrance exams?

We do work with students preparing for selective school entrance exams. It is important that you contact us well before the exams to give your child the best chance of success.

How long will it take for my Child to Catch Up?

Every child is unique and every problem is different. After the initial assessment, we will be able to provide an indication of the timescale for tutoring which may be required.  Your child's progress will be monitored regularly.

Can you tutor my child who has Special Educational (SEN) Needs?

We are lucky to employ a qualified specialist in this area who is fantastic at bringing out the best in children with special educational needs.  We tutor children of all abilities including those with learning difficulties or conditions such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, autism and visual impairments.

Will you come to our home to tutor?

All tutoring is done within our Centre. This gives us the ability to provide the best facilities and teaching aids to meet the needs of your child and creates the optimal environment for learning.

Will my child get homework?

Homework is an essential part of the Kip McGrath programme, particularly for Reading students. We are aware of each student's school workload, so set homework is generally limited to around half an hour each week. If you have difficulty in getting your child to complete the homework, please contact us immediately.

How should I help my child while at Kip McGrath?

Set aside a place and a time for your child to do homework from both school and Kip McGrath and ensure that they complete it each week. Make sure that they attend their tutoring sessions every week - regularity is a major key to improving your child's results. Always let the tutor know if you have any concerns about the progress of your child.
